چکیده

The RF-response of a three-terminal carbon nanotube resonator coupled to RF-transmission lines is studied by means of perturbation theory and direct numerical integration. We find three distinct oscillatory regimes, including one regime capable of exhibiting very large hysteresis loops in the frequency response. Considering a purely capacitive transduction, we derive a set of algebraic equations which can be used to find the output power (S-parameters) for a device connected to transmission lines with characteristic impedance Z0. Carbon nanotubes as ultrahigh quality factor mechanical resonators.

We have observed the transversal vibration mode of suspended carbon nanotubes at millikelvin temperatures by measuring the single-electron tunneling current. The suspended nanotubes are actuated contact-free by the radio frequency electric field of a nearby antenna; the mechanical resonance is detected in the time-averaged current through the nanotube. Sharp, gate-tunable resonances due to the ...

Negative frequency tuning of a carbon nanotube nano- electromechanical resonator under tension

A suspended, doubly clamped single wall carbon nanotube is characterized as driven nano-electromechanical resonator at cryogenic temperatures. Electronically, the carbon nanotube displays small bandgap behaviour with Coulomb blockade oscillations in electron conduction and transparent contacts in hole conduction. We observe the driven mechanical resonance in dc-transport, including multiple hig...

Detection of napropamide by microwave resonator sensor using carbon nanotube – polypyrrole- chitosan layer

This paper presents the design and fabrication of proximity coupled feed disk resonator coated with Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Polypyrrole-Chitosan (PPy-CHI) layers as a napropamide sensor. Computer Simulation Technology (CST) microwave studio was used to obtain the best design of disk resonator and feed line position in 5 GHz resonant frequency. Also, MWCNTs - PPy-CHI layers we...

Strong coupling between single-electron tunneling and nanomechanical motion.

Nanoscale resonators that oscillate at high frequencies are useful in many measurement applications. We studied a high-quality mechanical resonator made from a suspended carbon nanotube driven into motion by applying a periodic radio frequency potential using a nearby antenna. Single-electron charge fluctuations created periodic modulations of the mechanical resonance frequency. A quality facto...

Tunable nanoresonators constructed from telescoping nanotubes.

We have created a tunable mechanical nanoscale resonator with potential applications in precise mass, force, position, and frequency measurement. The device consists of a specially prepared multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) suspended between a metal electrode and a mobile, piezo-controlled contact. By exploiting the unique telescoping ability of MWNTs, we controllably slide an inner nanotube c...
